Problem: - Water filling the side screen gutter on the inside at the front end during heavy downpours.
The water would then run down the inside of the door onto the carpet on both sides.
Talking about this problem with Dave Welling, the 'Roadster Guru' from Talk Morgan, Dave sent me two pre cut strips of a pre moulded rubber insert to solve the problem which it certainly did.
The Offside Door with the Insert in place.
The Front End of the Rubber Insert showing the profile of the insert.
I held my inserts in place by rolling up a full length 'sausage' of double sided adhesive tape to form
an adhesive bed onto which I then poked into the window track slot before pressing in the rubber
molding.
Dave tells me that you could use Silicon Sealer but I thought that could be messy to apply and difficult to extract if ever I wanted to take it out.
The Mog has been out in some really heavy storms (which seems to be our luck) and the strips are still in place.
The moulding is supplied by a company caller COH Baines Limited -
They have an online catalogue and this product can be found on page 38 (I have put a link on our
Links to Other Useful Websites page.
It is listed as a Stock Item (*) but you will need to make
contact with them to establish the cost of a meter, which is all you will need. -
The image here is a cross section but is upside down from the way it is inserted into the rear outside unused gutter.
The thick part slots into the gutter and the 'L' piece almost touches the sliding screen.
I though that the little gap would still let water into the front inside gutter but No; It stops the water coming in from the gutters completely.
