CLEANING YOUR MORGAN MOTOR CAR

                   CLEANING YOUR MORGAN CAR

The sheer exhilaration of driving a Morgan is complimented beautifully by the few hours of tender loving care that is
required to get it looking fresh out of the showroom again. Cleaning your Morgan is a process; it takes time and
patience so as not to damage its delicate exterior, which is why we have broken down the stages of cleaning into
easy sections. From the body of your Morgan to the steering wheel, our specialist advice is second to none when
it comes to caring for your Morgan.

Body
Start by rinsing the body of your Morgan with a hose. If you plan on using a pressure washer, ensure that it is set
to the lowest setting, as the power of the water can damage the paint and finish of your car. Dilute an all purpose
car cleaner or shampoo following the instructions on the packaging, then decant it into a 1 litre spray bottle.
Whilst your car is still wet, spray the cleaner all over the body. Leave the solution on the car for a minute or two
before rinsing it off with a hose.

Never use washing up liquid to clean your Morgan, as this can cause your paint to dull over time, causing
irreversible damage to your Morgan. Whilst your car is wet, use a microfibre cloth or sponge to buff it to a high
shine, ensuring that no drip marks are left.

Once you have finished cleaning the rest of your Morgan, move it out of direct sunlight (into a garage for example)
and use a high quality wax or polish to really give your car a head turning allure.

Windows
For safety reasons, it is essential that you keep your windscreen clean for when you are out and about on the road.
Impaired visibility can result in unwanted scratches, or worse, an accident. However, it is easy to keep on top of a
smeary windscreen if you work it into your cleaning routine. Unwanted insect remains are the bane of all Morgan
owners, as they are impossible to prevent and can be difficult to remove.

Start by rinsing the windscreen with a hose and spraying it with the car shampoo you mixed up for the body of the
car. Using a new microfibre cloth or sponge, wipe away any dirt and grime from the windscreen. Repeat this
process until the glass is perfectly clean.

After, consider using a powerful glass cleaner, to give your windscreen a high shine that will last. There are
several available on the market. As always, we would advise that you opt for a quality brand such as Autoglym.
There are both liquid and cream based cleaners available, so feel free to experiment with which option works best
for you and your Morgan.

Leather Interior
What’s on the inside is just as important as what’s on the outside, which is why you should take care when cleaning
the leather interior of your Morgan. Start by vacuuming the seats and footwells to remove any large particles of dirt
and unwanted debris. After this, use a gentle leather cleaner on a microfibre cloth to wipe off any invisible dirt that
may have accumulated on your seats. Wipe off the cleaning agent using a clean microfibre cloth. You should notice
dirt, oil, and grime on the cloth.

To keep your leather seats looking fresh all year around, be sure to regularly run the hoover over the interior of your
Morgan, preventing any buildup of dust particles. You could also consider using a water-based, pH neutral leather
conditioner for your seats to keep the leather supple. If this is a route that is of interest to you, ensure that you spot
test your conditioner first to make sure that it does not discolour your seats. Always follow the instructions on the
bottle to ensure the best results.

Wheels
Aside from using car shampoo and a bit of elbow grease to get unwanted mud off your wheels, you can also use
particular products to get rid of brake dust and iron deposits. An example of a pH neutral deironiser is Wolf’s
Deironiser, a clinging gel that is safe for all surfaces and extremely effective. Apply it to your wheels, ensure that
they are not in direct sunlight or too hot, and leave it for 5 to 10 minutes. Once the liquid has turned dark purple,
rinse it thoroughly with water, ensuring that none is left on your Morgan. Use a microfibre cloth or sponge to wipe
away any leftover moisture so that no drip marks are visible.

Details
When it comes to keeping the dashboard, steering wheel, and exterior lights clean, make sure that you use the
appropriate products for the area. The steering wheel and dashboard can be wiped down with warm soapy water,
before being buffed with a clean, microfibre cloth. For headlights and brake lights, follow our previous instructions
for washing your Morgan windows; this will make sure that your headlights are dazzling.

Sit in the driver’s seat of your Morgan and just wipe down the equipment that you touch most whilst driving (for
example the gear stick, radio, and glove compartment) with a microfibre cloth to get rid of any smeary fingerprints.
