Up To Date Information from David Owens
During our 10th Anniversary Visit to the Morgan Factory, owner David Owens briefed us on a new Wheel Spinner Removal Tool he had sourced.
" As some of us discussed at the R100 Anniversary weekend the contact details for the alloy wheel spinner removal tool is as follows:
Lionel at wheelwidget@hotmail.co.uk
He can make the tool for the octagonal, two eared and three eared spinners. The cost was circa £50 + P&P. "
Photographs attached. You do need a 38mm socket and breaker bar to attach to the tool to remove the spinner.

I too am very wary when removing/re-fitting the Aero wheels.
I have the factory tool and s/s bar but I recently took delivery of this beauty -
maybe not entirely necessary , but beautifully made from a solid billet of aircraft grade aluminium
I use it with a 3/4 " breaker bar and a 38mm socket.I also have a bit of scaffold tube for extra 'persuasion'

Talked to Lionel Roberts, sent him the original wheel tool and...magic: a perfect tool with 38mm socket on which I use an extending ratchet/breaker bar.

His prices are very reasonable ; not sure what his final price for these will be but expect around same as spinners. He is able to machine to fit 2/3-eared spinners/octagonals as well and up for a challenge on anything else -

I have spoken to Lionel today and he is out of stock of the adaptor but is going to make one up for me in 3 to 4 weeks time.
I said I would mention details on Talk Morgan and if anyone else is interested he can make a batch up at the same time."
Lionel is a real gent;retired and clearly very talented.

He makes up similar items / spinners for the MG club , Jags and other exotica.
He did say he had made one extra tool for 'stock' so you may be lucky if you want one - otherwise it is probably only a few weeks 'till he can make up another batch...
The Jaguar Owners Story on Valvechatter
Watching a YouTube video by DaveJaguar66, I was introduced to a new tool that Lionel Roberts makes for this purpose.
It is machined from aluminum and therefore softer than the chrome spinner and it uses a 1-1/2″ socket and a long Tommy Bar. No more banging with a hammer and risking a missed blow striking bodywork! I have now tried the tool and love it.
Lionel makes different size tools to accommodate differences in spinner size. As far as I am concerned this is a must-have tool.
So, now instead of a lead hammer, I will be carrying a Tommy Bar, a 1-1/2″ socket and Lionel’s tool in my boot!

Just received my " wheel widget" from Lionel ( what a nice bloke ) and am impressed...so set to work to complete the tool ( and weight save 1.6Kg ), what I had in my boot was a torque wrench and home-made spinner socket ( did the job a treat but boy was it heavy - a total of just over 3Kg )
Cut down a box spanner I had lying around and turned down a surplus socket to provide a made to measure 1/2" drive 1 1/2" socket, also took apart an old torque wrench and " grafted" the business end onto a length of thick walled ali.pipe...
Weights (approx)
spinner tool 1600 gms
torque wrench 1500 gms
Wheel widget 480 gms
socket 200 gms
long bar 650 gms
Lionel can be contacted at wheelwidget@hotmail.co.uk and at a good price.
