Daylight Running Lamps
By David Harris
Davids 'U' of 'Running Lights', in this cropped image from a Surrey Hills Pic.
A few people have asked about my daytime driving lights which incorporate a ribbon of LED’s.
I think they improve my visibility to other road users.
The Lamp Unit
My dark coloured low Morgan is not always easy to see it seems.
The lamps were supplied by :-

Use your existing bulbs or “Nightbreaker” – about £20.
I then got the local auto-electrician to fit.

A Few Words of Caution from Philip Loring
These new lamps are designed to focus the beam from the reflector not the lens.
I wondered if this meant that you cannot “correct” the beam for Left Hand Drive (LHD) when driving abroad.
I telephoned the company this morning and they confirmed that this is correct. The beam is fixed by the reflector and cannot be adjusted by anything applied to the lens.
Unfortunately this would give me a problem with European touring where it is a requirement that headlamps are converted to LHD.

Crystal Halogen DRL style Headlamp Conversion kit RHD (PAIR)
Land Rover Defender
Upgrade the headlights in your Defender to these new Crystal Halogen LED DRL style ( Daytime Running Light ) headlights.
These headlights are the latest evolution of the round 7" headlight to hit the market.
All new cars need to have DRL's fitted and so it is becoming a popular upgrade on older cars.
These headlights have been specially made for us here at PowerfulUK and have a RHD ( Right Hand Drive ) beam pattern that will pass a UK MOT.
See below link to some pictures posted by customer who has recently fitted these to his defender and kindly sent us this link ( thanks Jordan )
Even if the LED is not your thing these lights have a superb light output on dip and main beam thanks to the beam pattern being set by the reflector not by thelens (as on standard headlights)
The lens is smooth giving a cleaner sharper appearance to the lights.
These lights give up to 25% more light output than standard headlights even using the same bulb !
ALL new cars use this new technology for the headlights and this is one major reason modern cars have much better lights
In addition to the better technology the reflector on these lights are made from plastic and so will not rust or corrode like the older metal ones.
The lens is made from a scratch resistant plastic.
These lights use Halogen H4 bulbs ( not included ) which you should have in your old lights ( unless you have sealed be units fitted )
These lights are not E Marked but are RHD MOT passing lights.
This listing is for a PAIR of headlights complete with LED side lights and rubber caps for the bulb ( no main H4 headlight bulbs are included ).
We have run these lights with 90/100W H4 bulbs with no problems.
These lights will fit into Lucas metal bowls also Lucas and Wipac plastic bowls.
These lights are well packed and will arrive with quickly and safely - we have stock ready for dispatch.
You can link the LED power wires to the sidelight wire or link to an ignition source of you want them to come on with the ignition.
